Where It Begins
Purpose Driven Responsibility is more than the slogan of Genesis Building Systems — it is the story of how we got here.
Our founder, Chris Cavnar, grew up experiencing environments and influences that led toward poor decisions, brokenness, and consequences that easily could have defined the rest of his life. There were seasons where his path was headed toward jail, institutions, and even death. By the grace of God, and the Lord Jesus himself, that is not where the story ended.
That transformation gave us a new purpose and a new responsibility — to become faithful stewards of every opportunity, relationship, and gift that has been entrusted to us.
How It Shaped the Work
The same transformation that redirected Chris's life eventually led him into building automation — a field that became far more than a career. What started as an HVAC technician job after the Navy became a calling. The technical depth, the problem-solving, the responsibility of making a building perform for the people inside it — it all aligned with something deeper.
We were hooked.
Nearly twenty years in, that passion hasn't faded. If anything, it has sharpened. Every project is an opportunity to do something well — to serve a client with integrity, to deliver a system that actually works, and to leave a job site better than we found it.
What Drives Us
What drives us isn't simply designing controls systems.
What drives us is helping people solve problems.
Whether it's helping an owner eliminate years of operational headaches, supporting a contractor through a difficult project, or helping an engineer bring a complex design to life — we find purpose in removing obstacles and creating solutions that genuinely improve people's lives and businesses.
A Greater Responsibility
We also recognize a greater responsibility. The knowledge, experience, friendships, and opportunities we've received were never meant to be kept for ourselves. They were gifts, freely given, and we believe they are meant to be stewarded well. That means serving customers with integrity, investing in the next generation of controls professionals, helping others through difficult situations, and building a company that reflects those same values every day.
